How to fix Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 with SpenCommand (and maybe otherapps) due to wrongly assigned MAC address (00:90:4c:c5:12:38) on Lineage OS

So few days back I got used Note 10.1 2014 as it was best bang for the buck. Unfortunately, it runs old Android 5.1 which is latest official release to day (and ever). As I for both usage and security reasons I decided to update to latest Lineage OS 14.1 (formerly Cyanogenmod). One of the drawbacks of Lineage is not complete support for Spen. Don’t get me wrong, spen works fine to draw in some apps, but does not show hover cursor, button doesn’t work, etc… I wanted full functionality and found out, that best app to do so is SpenCommand. For SpenCommand you need to have rooted device – I won’t get into specifics how to root, there is plenty of articles about that. I went with SuperSU variant. Unfortunately after rooting and running SpenCommand, it did not work. The error given, after few minutes of „searching“ wait sign, was „unable to find initial hardware information“. In beta version, similar information was shown directly in app after about 30s. I got in touch with developer via facebook (whow, how fast this guy replies to requests 🙂 and found out, that issue might be with Wifi, as it’s used to detect the device. At this time, I found out, that my wifi has been assigned MAC address 00:90:4c:c5:12:38, which is […]

Fiil Carat (non-pro version) Review – designer wireless earphones

So I got my hands on pair of brand new Fiil Carat. These are marketed as premium headphones with unique design and „audiophile quality“ sound – there I’m not sure, if this is feature of just the PRO version or even the regular ones. Fiil is not very well known brand, at least not in Europe, so let’s see what these have to offer 🙂 Package contents The packaging is, simply put, beautiful – even from first look, you’d expect to receive premium product. Headphones are visible right away, which is great to show off unique design on store shelves. Contents on the other hand are pretty standard – you get headphones itself, some earwings and eartips (4 pairs of each, including the ones on the headphones), over the ear clip for better hold, microUSB cable, cable clip to shorten the cable connecting each earpiece, replacement USB port cover (more on this **** later) and nylon/neoprene carrying pouch. I’d prefer hard case, considering that headphones offer magnetic design to hold each other together, which also turns them off. And you know what happens, when you clip the headphones together to turn it off and put it in a cloth bag? Yeah, those get separated, turned on and connected to phone again… So if you use the bag, you’ll still need […]

How to network unlock Galaxy S4 I9505 with Android 5.0.1 (Lollipop) for free?

I9505 cannot be easily unlocked using *#0011# service menu, as the firmware forbids it. There is actually very simple method to network unlock the phone. Step 1: flash older modem – ME2 Download Odin for flashing Samsung phones Download ME2 modem. Enter download mode on your phone (turn off and turn on while holding volume down button) Flash ME2 modem as AP/PDA in ODIN After doing so, your phone is ready to be network unlocked. Step 2: unlocking the phone To unlock the phone, you need to be rooted. Don’t worry, it’s pretty easy and you can remove root after doing so. There are various methods to do so like cf-auto-root, but the simplest one I found is using KingRoot: Download Kingroot for mobile Copy and install it on your phone (you have to have enabled unknown sources). Or install it using Play store. Download and install RegionLock Away – either using Play Store to support the developer or just the APK. Run Kingroot and let it autoroot your phone. Have it disconnected from USB, it did not work for me while being connected. If it does not work on first try, try it once or twice more. When you are rooted, run RegionLock away. Select to unlock your phone, wait for the prompt to give Root access and that’s it. Prompt for root access […]
